Stillwater Community Chapel Mission/Purpose Statement (adopted December 2025)

Stillwater Community Chapel is a body of believers in Christ commissioned by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate the Father's love by sharing Jesus, strengthening believers and serving others.  (Acts 14:21-23; Matthew 28:18-20).

Our general invitation is "Come as you are and hear about Jesus!"

Stillwater Community Chapel Covenant  (adopted October 2025)

I, ________________________________________________________, who have responded with repentance and belief to the grace of God through the saving faith offered by Jesus’ death and resurrection (Ephesians 2:8-9), covenant (a voluntary binding agreement) with others of this same response who gather as the church body known as Stillwater Community Chapel to strive and be accountable to our Lord’s instruction found in the words of Scripture which are inspired by the Holy Spirit for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). These actions are to be offered in grace to one another (Ephesians 4:1-3) and following the example of the head of the church, our Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:15-20).
I covenant to:

Love one another. (John 13:34-35; 15:12, 17; Romans 12:10; 13:8; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; 4:9-10; 1 Peter 1:22; 4:8; 1 John 3:11, 23; 4:7, 11-12; 2 John 1:5)

Be in fellowship with one another. (1 John 1:7) Which also includes greeting one another (1 Corinthians 16:20), welcoming one another (Romans 15:7), and showing hospitality to one another (1 Peter 4:9).

Encourage one another. (Hebrews 10:24) Which also includes building one another up (1 Thessalonians 5:11), comforting one another (2 Corinthians 13:11), and stirring up one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24).

Honor one another. (Romans 12:10) Which also includes not speaking against one another (James 4:11), not provoking one another (Galatians 5:26), not envying one another (Galatians 5:26), and not passing judgement upon another (Romans 14:13).

Speak the Truth to one another. (Ephesians 4:25; Colossians 3:9) Which also includes exhorting one another (Hebrews 3:13), instructing one another (Romans 15:14), and teaching and admonishing one another (Colossians 3:16).

Serve one another. (Galatians 5:13; 1 Peter 4:10) Which also includes being kind to one another (Ephesians 4:32), bearing with one another (Colossians 3:13), bearing one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), caring for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25), doing good to one another (1 Thessalonians 5:15), washing one another’s feet (John 13:14), and waiting for one another (1 Corinthians 11:33).

Pray for one another. (James 5:16) Which also includes agreeing with one another (2 Corinthians 13:11), and singing to one another (Ephesians 5:19).

And live in harmony with one another. (Romans 12:16; 15:5) Which also includes being at peace with one another (Mark 9:50), forgiving one another (Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13), confessing sins to one another (James 5:16), being humble toward one another (1 Peter 5:5), and submitting to one another (Ephesians 5:21).

I understand that if I am exhibiting the negative of any of these God given “one another’s” that I am out of step with God’s will and will seek repentance (a turning back to God’s standard) following 1) the words of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), 2) the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 5:23-24; John 16:13), and 3) the loving discipline of my church family (Matthew 18:15-17). This corrective action back to God’s standard is for the benefit of the whole and myself.

I will strive to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and to love my neighbor as myself thus fulfilling the two greatest commands of Christ (Matthew 22:36-40) and participate, led by the Holy Spirit, in the Great Commission to go and proclaim a risen and coming Lord (Matthew 28:18-20).

I also will be supportive of this church family by being devoted to: (Acts 2:42-47)

The teaching and applying of God’s word, privately and corporately.
The worship of Christ alone as the way, the truth and the life.
The practice of prayer, privately and corporately.
The gathering of the saved on a regular weekly basis.
The service of others using my resources, talents, and spiritual gifts.

Stillwater Community Chapel Tenets of Faith and Doctrine

The Scriptures Inspired - The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12)

The One True Godhead - There is one true God, but in the unity of the Godhead there are three co-eternal and co-equal persons; the same substance, but distinct in subsistence.  The Father is God (John 6:27; 1 Peter 1:2).  The Son is God (John 1:1-3; 20:28).  The Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; John 3:5-8).  God is One (Deuteronomy 6:4).

Man, His Fall and Redemption - Man was created good and upright, for God said, "Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness."  But man, by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ the Son of God (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21).

Man's Only Hope of Redemption is Through the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ - On the cross Jesus Christ became sin, providing salvation for all mankind (II Corinthians 5:20), being justified freely by His Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  "For by grace we are saved through faith."  "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart - that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (Romans 3:24; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:8-10)

The Evidence of Salvation - The inward evidence to the believer of his salvation, is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16).  The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.  "And this is His commandment, the we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us." (1 John 3:23)

Faith and Works - Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works; however, our works will determine the rewards in eternity (Romans 10:9-11; II Corinthians 5:10).

Baptism in Water - The ordinance of baptism by a burial with Christ should be observed by immersion, as commanded in the Scriptures by all who have really repented and in their hearts have truly believed on Christ as Savior and Lord.  In so doing, they declare as a public testimony that they have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life (Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4).

The Lord's Supper - "And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, 'This is My body which is for you.  Do this in remembrance of Me.'  In the same way after supper He took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'  Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup" (1 Corinthians 11:24-25, 28).  In this manner we commemorate the death of Christ on the cross through taking the bread and the fruit of the vine as symbols of His body and blood.

The Evidence of the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit - The evidence of the indwelling of believers by the power of the Holy Spirit is given to understand and witness in public testimony and service (Luke 24:45-49; Acts 1:8).

The Church - The church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission.  Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and have a responsibility to serve within the local church body of believers where God has placed them (Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Corinthians 12:18).

Total Prosperity - Spiritual (John 3:3, 11; II Corinthians 5:17-21; Romans 10:9-10).  Mental (II Timothy 1:7; Romans 12:2; Isaiah 26:3).  Physical (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24).  Financial (Malachi 3:10-11; Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 9:6-10; Deuteronomy 28:1-14).  Social (Proverbs 3:4).

Blessed Hope - Jesus is coming again to gather all His saints to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; II Thessalonians 2:1).

The Lake of Fire - Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead.  The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.  This is the second death, the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15).

The Millennial Reign of Jesus - The return of our Lord Jesus Christ with His Saints from Heaven to rule and reign for one thousand years on earth as the Scriptures promised (Romans 11:25, 27; II Thessalonians 1:7; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-7).  After this, there shall be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21).

Stillwater Community Chapel Important Statements (adopted 1/19/2026)

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extend of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as
the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning
truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all
that we believe. For purposes of the Stillwater Community Chapel’s faith, doctrine,
practice, policy, and discipline, our board of elders is Stillwater Community Chapel’s
final interpretative authority following its constitution and bylaw guidelines on the
Bible’s meaning and application.

Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Because
every human bears God’s image, human life is of inestimable worth in all its
dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally
challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death
or death by God-ordained penalty (Romans 13). We are therefore called to defend,
protect, and value all human life (Psalm 139).

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male and
female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and
nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex assigned at birth
is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man
and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis
2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man
and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5; Hebrews
13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be
engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication,
homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, self-gratification, bestiality, incest, and use of
pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians
6:9-10)

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the Stillwater
Community Chapel as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to
the Stillwater Community Chapel members and the community, it is imperative that all
persons employed by the Stillwater Community Chapel in any capacity, its members,
or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage,
Gender, and Sexuality. (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22)
Because God has given each person their biological sex at birth, we will use our
church facilities (property, rented facilities and all other ministry locations) in
accordance with His assigned biological sex at birth. This means that all person using
our assigned biological sex accommodations (e.g. restrooms) must do so according
to their biological sex assigned at birth.

Because God ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between
a man, a woman, and Himself, the Stillwater Community Chapel will only recognize
marriages between one biological man and one biological woman. Finally, because
the blessing of a marriage is a worship service to the Lord, the facilities and property
of the Stillwater Community Chapel shall only host wedding between one biological
man and one biological woman.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake
their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21;
Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect,
and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes
directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with
Scripture nor the doctrines of the Stillwater Community Chapel.
